Kade Nelson Sophomore Class Administrative Assistant 1 October 2020
Position Assessment: As class Administrative Assistant I have been involved in class t-shirt sales and creation, class shoutouts, and I helped come up with ideas for fall fest. We began to brainstorm our design for our shirts in the summertime so that we were able to get a head start on the school year. Once we began to sell our shirts and let people pick them up we directly messaged the people who had not gotten their shirts yet to remind them to come pick up their shirts. The sophomore class officers noticed that the junior class Instagram was posting student shoutouts on their class Instagram page and getting positive feedback so we decided to do the same thing and it turned out as a success for our class too. Recently we have begun to make ideas for fall fest and for what our truck will look like. We still need to discuss our plans a little bit to make sure that everything will run smoothly. Professional development: Recently we turned in our job research for future careers and it has made me think about what life will be like after highschool and how I can prepare for it. I have begun to look into future careers and destinations for college during my free time now. I have also begun to think about what my life after college will look like and it has started to motivate me to work hard in school so that I can have a job that I love. During class discussions I have been offering a lot of input but I can always get better at it. Concerns/Change: My main concern is the level of participation that we will receive during fall fest. I feel like the students at Ripon High School will not be motivated enough to participate because the students are at home and they don’t have the same environment as they do when they are on campus at Ripon High. It will be a challenge to motivate students but it is definitely possible. Positive Comment: I would like to give a positive comment to the junior class officers. They did a really good job designing their t-shirts for the second year in a row now. And they also came up with a really good idea to make their social media account interactive and it got really good feedback from their class and many of the students from our class requested that we do something similar to what they did. My Impact: I have been able to stick to my core principles well during this time. Despite the difficulties that have been brought by covid I have been able to do my best to follow my core principles. An impact that I have made during this time is trying my best to help my brother, my friends, and my peers with online school whenever they are struggling. I always try to be vocal and talk as much as possible when I get put into breakout rooms so that it doesn’t become awkward. If I don’t do this I normally find myself looking at a bunch of muted microphones and black screens because people have turned their cameras off. I have found that if I don’t talk then no one will so I always try to talk so that the other people will feel more comfortable and feed off of my energy.
ASB Report October and November
Kade Nelson Sophomore Class Administrative Assistant December 1, 2020 Position Assessment: Something that happened was fall fest. We used the Sophomore class president, Mackenzie Loechler’s, truck for our fall fest float. We had the topic of breast cancer awareness. We covered the entire truck in pink from the wheels to the roof. We had a manikin in the back dressed in pink and we had lots of pink balloons. The sophomore class ended up coming in third place for fall fest. The next event that we had was Dude be nice. Everyone in the class did something for the Dude be nice winner, Mr. Perez. These things included making a thank you style card, a dad joke style card, or making a video for Mr. Perez. Unfortunately I was unable to attend the Dude be nice reveal, but I heard that it was a great success and it went well. My Perez was very surprised and the leadership class was happy with how the event went. Professional Development: Not being at school has made it kind of difficult to work on my professional development, but it has changed my perspective on life and the way that I look at things. It has made me realize that out of nowhere something could happen and all restaurants, shops, and stores could close down out of nowhere. This has made me think that I should go to college for a career that allows me to work from home just in case something like this happens in the future. It has also made me think that I should try and do something in the tech industry because technology has been a huge part of everyone's life recently during quarantine. Things like zoom and google meetings have become extremely successful because of the CoronaVirus. Due to what has happened, I am looking into going into college for something that will enable me to work from home and benefit from something like the CoronaVirus. Concerns/Change: A concern that I have so far is that the students at Ripon High School will be sent back home due to the coronavirus. I am concerned that leadership will lose its close family aspect because we are not all together like we are used to. I already feel like I don’t have a connection with the freshman this year just because I have never talked to them. Because we are all separated I feel like we are losing our family-like connection. Positive comment: I would like to make a positive comment to April for helping me a lot by answering my questions. I get distracted easily on zoom calls so when I have a question I can just text April and she will let me know what is happening. She also helps me a lot in other classes when I am confused. For this being her first year in leadership, I think that she is doing a great job so far and I think that she will be a great leader for years to come. My Impact: It has been hard to make an impact from home but I have been doing my best to help my friends out in online school when they are confused so that they can keep their grades up. I have also been trying to motivate my friends to keep going to class and doing there homework because it gets repetitive after awhile. Luckily they are back in school now so they have found some more motivation. Another way that I have impacted the world recently is by trying to recycle more. My family has been trying to recycle as much as possible to help keep the planet clean and eliminate waste.
ASB Report February and March
Kade Nelson Sophomore Class Administrative Assistant March 17, 2021 Position Assessment: I have finally been given a task that I specifically have to do by myself. I have been given the task of filling out a purchase order and a procedure form. It has honestly been harder than I thought but Makenzie has been a big help with all of the paperwork. I have been helping as much as I can with homecoming and getting the paperwork done. I also helped with the St. Patrick’s day clovers that we made and put up on the morning of St. Patrick day. Each student had a clover with their name and a positive message on it. I think this was a much needed project and I am glad that we did it. Professional Development: I have definitely developed professionally since the last ASB formal meeting that we had. Since I was tasked with filling out a purchase order and a procedure form I have developed by learning how to do paper work. I have also developed because we edited our cover letters and our resumes. I had a few things to add to each of my documents but it was a good refresher so that I would not forget how to make either of the two documents. I have also been improving on my team work because now that we are having a homecoming and events and projects to work on, I have gained the opportunity to work with other leaders in my class and improve and grow some friendships. Concerns/Change: A concern that I have is that we might be overwhelming ourselves with all of the events that are coming up with homecoming. I am glad that we will be able to have a homecoming and events finally but I am slightly worried that we might have forgotten how much we can handle for just coming back, and I think we may have bit off a little more than we can chew. Positive comment: My positive comment is for the entire class for being able to persevere through the challenge that is covid and still being able to plan events like the clovers and homecoming. Great job to everyone especially the freshmen for coming in to a new year and having no clue what to expect and still doing a really great job so far. KEEP IT UP! My Impact: Until recently it has been hard to have much of an impact this year due to covid-19 but I have been able to make an impact by trying my hardest at everything I do and by trying to motivate the people around me to keep pushing no matter how hard it gets. I have tried to be a leader at football especially because up until recently we did not know if we were going to have a season. I showed up to every practice and conditioning and tried my hardest everyday while attempting to motivate the people around me so that they could keep hope through these tough times.
