The main role model that I have had throughout my life is my mom. My mom has been a role model to me throughout my life because she has proved to me that no matter what life throws at you, you just have to keep going and everything will turn out okay in the end. She has been through a lot during her life but she always manages to stay positive, which has taught me to do the same. On my second birthday my father passed away of brain cancer. Now that my family didn’t have a father to support us, my mom had been challenged with being both a mom and a dad. She had to bring in enough income to support my family, and also pay off my fathers cancer bills. When I was little I always felt like my mom was around even though she worked really hard and was at work every weekday. She still managed to make time for my brother and I on weekends and during the nights on weekdays. Even from a young age my mother inspired me because I knew that she had been through something really hard and my family was still doing well through it all. I think that my mom is the strongest person I know and I really admire her for that. She has taught me many valuable lessons that I will continue to use throughout the rest of my life.

The peer that I would like to reflect on is David. David is one of the nicest people that I have ever met. Whenever I see David he appears to be in a good mood and he always has a smile on his face. David makes my day better almost every day. When I see him around campus I always hear “Kade Nelson!!! How are you doing today?” Just by simply asking me how my day is going my day improves a lot. It is nice to know that someone truly cares how my day is and I really appreciate that David takes the time out of his busy schedule to check in on me and make sure I am doing okay. I am not the only person who benefits from David’s kindness, I often see David talking to other students around campus asking them how they are doing and spreading kindness. I appreciate David and I know that many other students and staff at Ripon High do as well!
